I’m 44 and got my first job in online marketing back in 1999 for a dot com bubble company called bepaid.com
Jesus, I’ve been doing this for ages.
Since then, I’ve had a variety of jobs, working for places as diverse as Penton Media and Playboy before going freelance for ten years specializing in the adult space.
During that freelance time, I’ve worked for Playboy, Hustler, Kink and Babestation and many more smaller sites that feature ladies that have forgotten to get dressed.
Ha! Porn! What fun and how easy! You may think. Now, imagine trying to sell something that literally EVERYONE can get for free. Hmm, suddenly not so easy…
I had a daughter two years ago, so the feast and famine aspect of freelancing was no good, so got a full time job running the marketing for vivastreet.co.uk – a free classifieds site with a focus (at least in terms of our revenue) on the UK escort marketing. Escorting is legal in the UK.
My skills center mainly around creativity. I can come up with ideas for everything. I’ve focused a lot of time and energy on email marketing from acquisition to retention to win back. Now, however, I’m responsible for a €1.8m budget covering OOH, TV, content marketing, display and of course, my love, email. I’m involved in budgeting, strategy, design, copy writing, email marketing and anything else my bosses ask me to do.
