I’m glad you asked. Well for starters, we are at 3300+ members, so there’s that. I can hear Gary Vaynerchuk right now, saying “it’s about depth, not width” or something to that effect. Which is why we do our best to screen our applicants.
Hooray for Matt Mickiewicz, who will be joining us on May 18th @ 2PM EST for an AMA. He co-founded 99designs, Sitepoint, Flippa and more recently co-founded Hired. Put it in your calendar now folks! Matt’s full bio.
Why Get Engaged?
How can you be more engaged? Helping others. Let me tell you a little story.
In 2015, 90% of the 7-fig (NBD) revenue my digital marketing agency generated came from referrals. Ironically, NOT from digital marketing or SEO. Those referrals were created by engaging in communities like this one.
Marketers will have you believe the game has changed such that it now needs buzzwords as “growth hacking”, “inbound marketing”, and what not. Folks. It’s people helping people, and the people in our community are f*cking ballers as far as most groups are concerned.
Alas, this is not something you don’t already know, though I find we all occasionally need a reminder—myself especially.
Those of you who are chatting seem to be the people who are constantly doing. You are the small percentile that create content. You execute. So, you may not need to hear this, but I think it should be said for those who are still waiting to take the plunge…because it really is this easy:
I really encourage those of you who haven’t found their life’s passion, or may be searching for their entrepreneurial path/project…do SOMETHING. I get the sense that there are a lot of folks crippled by this notion that they have to do something BIG and IMPORTANT. Folks, I made my first internet monies selling Gmail addresses!
Many of us are guilty of this. Sometimes it helps, mostly it doesn’t. We can’t help but compare what we are doing for a living to people like Elon Musk, who have pretty much reached the pinnacle of where you can go in life. Some people find their passion and skill easier than others, and it can be tempting to reach for what they have instead of what’s right in front of you.
This is healthy, to a point. BUT, don’t ever let a need for greatness paralyze you. Keep moving. Keep building. OG’s are here to help in anyway we can!
OGs Making Moves
The homie @thomas recently got laid off, and is looking for work in the digital marketing realm, remote or in Montreal. Help a brother out! Here is his LinkedIn profile.
@jpack just launched a new passion project called the woods, and it’s ALL about camping. Great reading for the outdoorsy types.
I made a Youtube Channel. It’s pretty dope. I talk about marketing, business, ya’ know.. I go deep, and talk about a lot of my embarrassing mistakes and what I learned from them. It’s in the trenches, weekly, trying to be a better marketer, businessman and human being. Laugh, learn and grow with me.

In a couple of days we’ll be launching an OG survey to get an idea of how we can make this community better for everyone. This survey is for everyone, regardless of how active you are—in fact, you could say we want to know even _more_ from you if you’re not active. Promise it won’t take very long, and it could help us out a ton if you’re willing to part with just 2 or 3 of your minutes. We’ll make it worth it!
Each month I try to bring you my favorite articles, books and casts. I am a total information glutton. More inputs than I could possibly action in my lifetime. I don’t recommend this, but it sure makes recommending good reading/listening easy!
Reach out to @scott and get the member directory. All the people you need to build an absolutely killer network are there. If would like to be apart of it pm @scott
