I picked up this book called Necessary Endings recently, and it has really rocked my world. I won’t try and summarize the book because I know I won’t do it justice, but there was one teaching that I cannot get off my brain. Many of us have thought about whether or not we have people around us we feel comfortable enough to be vulnerable around. More specifically, vulnerable with our failings, business and personal. I hope we can all say we have at least one such person (or cat?), because it’s important.
BUT, what about our successes? What happens when we share our triumphs with those same people, and others? Is it received the same? Or is it met with jealousy and contempt? It’s important to celebrate those wins, however small. And the best way to do that is with the people we love. What happens if we can’t do that?
I don’t have any answers for you, but it’s something worth noodling on.
