[insert something inspirational, and motivational here]
Nope. I got nothing today folks. Some days, weeks, months are just like that, right. I find it’s usually when you are busy and don’t have any time to THINK. It’s different for everyone probably, but for me, if I am busy (chicken with head cut off busy), my head just isn’t in the right place to feel inspired. It sucks. It really does. But sometimes you just need to keep your head down and in the game.
Where I think this becomes problematic is when you don’t bring your head up. It’s really easy to lose sight of the bigger picture, and the stuff that really matters. And I don’t mean family, it might just be the client’s KPI or the endgame of the project you’re working on. Here’s a couple of things that I do when I find myself stuck in this space, and needing some oxygen:
Go grab some food with a fellow hard worker. Someone who’s getting after it, who’s positive and isn’t going to just talk shop. That person whom you always leave feeling energized. If you don’t have someone like this in your life, get your tuckus out to some small, local meetups (may I suggest an OG one?) or create one of your own (may I also suggest an OG one?)
Go put your hands in the dirt. If you don’t have a garden, what’s the wait? Plant some tomatoes. Really important though, leave the phone and the headphones. This is between you and the dirt. Tomatoes are good because they grow quick and require regular pruning. Gives you something to pick away at every few days, and a way to disconnect. Oh ya, and they also give you tomatoes. YUM!
I don’t have kids, but my friends that do, they say there is nothing better than leaving everything behind and taking your kids to the park. They find it really helps them get their priorities in order and remember why they do this thing. And if you don’t have any, go have some! There’s no better kick in the ass! I am kidding of course, sort of.
And lastly, go learn something. By whatever means you are most comfortable with. Be it a book, podcast, udemy or clarity.fm call. A colleague told me yesterday, she will find someone who’s in her budget, and book 30 minutes with he/she on Clarity. She’ll pick a topic she’s interested in, and just speak to that person about it. What a weirdo huh? : )

If I missed anyone, I am sorry. The volume of requests, and then wading through said requests is madness!! Y’all accomplish a lot in 1 month!

Each month I try to bring you my favorite articles, books and casts. I am a total information glutton. More inputs than I could possibly action in my lifetime. I don’t recommend this, but it sure makes recommending good reading/listening easy!
I am committed to devouring 2-4 books each month, and reporting back on which made an impact. I will also list books that are absolute essentials. Here’s a few recent and/or past favorites:
The Richest Man in Babylon – George S. Clason
As a Man Thinketh – James Allen
Think and Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill
Classics right? These are all books that are worth multiple reads, or so I keep hearing over and over and over again. They are next on my hit list.
