Yesterday before bed I caught myself (per usual) giving myself a hard time about not giving enough, working hard enough, about not meeting my goals soon enough. Do you ever have those moments? Usually you’re doing something totally unrelated (I was in the washroom, and it wasn’t the shower, lol), and you have some self-talk going on in your skull. That’s where it usually stops for me.
This time I dug a bit deeper and realized that I had already accomplished what I originally set out to. For me it was saving my company from financial crisis, but somewhere along the way the goal moved and now it was financial strength. The needle moved, and my brain didn’t seem to register where one goal ended and another began.
And so here I am torturing myself even though I am making progress, it just got blurred along the way. And in that moment for the first time it finally hit me. I get it. I’ve read it before, and so have you. Celebrate your wins, however small. If not to have fun, then for your brain and your soul. They (can I call it ‘they?’) need to know that a goal was achieved. Another idea, mark it down somewhere that you did it. You got there. Somewhere you look frequently. I think this is what I need to do, and perhaps it’s worth trying for yourself if you are finding the same. What do you think?

Each month I try to bring you my favorite articles, books and casts. I am a total information glutton. More inputs than I could possibly action in my lifetime. I don’t recommend this, but it sure makes recommending good reading/listening easy!
I am committed to devouring 2-4 books each month, and reporting back on which made an impact. I will also list books that are absolute essentials. Here’s one I recently picked up that I can’t put down:
State of Affairs, Esther Perel (it’s hype-y, but I’ve started on it, listened to two interviews and listened to her audible series, and she’s GOOD)
Only one this time…I was travelling, alright?! haha : )
